Birth and Parent Companion Program

Volunteer

Our Volunteer Companions make a difference in the lives of a multitude of mothers and children, one family at a time.

Volunteers make this program possible. Their contribution is so much more than their time, and it is their very essence that they give.

Upcoming Volunteer Training

Birth Companions:

This training provides an intensive doula training as well as training specific to the clientele Birth Companions support.  It is a minimum of 30 hours in duration, usually 7 x 3 hour evenings and one full day Saturday.

April 2012

Parent Companions:

This training reinforces the positive parenting and communications skills volunteers already have and provides child development information and training about supporting the clients of this program.  It is spread over 3 x 3 hour evening sessions.

May 2012

We accept applications year-round. Please feel free to call (613-728-1839, ext. 289) or e-mail the Program for more information.

Birth Companion Volunteers spend on average 30 hours with each client over a five-month period, and Parent Companions share about two hours per week in person or by phone with their matches.
