Mothercraft Birth Support provides doula services to low and middle income families on a sliding fee scale. The role of the doula is to provide information, advocacy, and emotional and physical support to women and their partners before, during, and after childbirth. Women who give birth with the help of a doula experience fewer caesarean births, fewer interventions and complications during childbirth, greater success breastfeeding, and are more likely to have positive feelings about their labour and childbirth.
Mothercraft Birth Support is operated as a social enterprise. All revenues generated from Mothercraft Birth Support are used to support the ongoing work of the Birth Companion Program.
