NEW PROGRAM

Mothercraft is opening an after school program at Elmdale Public School on September 7, 2004. This program is being offered to school age children aged 6 to 12 years and will operate from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on school days.
This is an exciting opportunity for Mothercraft to expand its operations into the community. Registration starts on July 21st. Contact ext. 600 for more information.

PARENTS AND FRIENDS COMMITTEE

On May 5, the Parents and Friends Committee was launched to support efforts of Mothercraft staff and the Board of Directors to maintain and improve Mothercraft’s services and to promote more broadly the need for adequate quality child care in our community.
A list of possible projects was circulated for Parent/Friend involvement and asked people to express their interest in these and/or suggest others. If you are able to make a commitment (time, skills, materials, contacts) on any of these projects, please email us at parentsandfriends@mothercraft.com

Projects:

  • playground (it would be great to get a small group together to start building an action plan);
  • website enhancement;
  • installation of a staff shower;
  • Parent and Birth Companion Program funding needed;
  • Parents Volunteering;
  • Fundraising: providing/assisting with the development of links to local business contacts or foundation members
  • Advocacy (ideas include an opening event for the Elmdale program).
